Hello Respresentitive Hayes,
As someone who lives in Sugarhouse in Utah it has come to my concern that there is a bill being passed about data center water transperency. (HB0076) I am in full support of this bill being passed and I am glad you are sponsoring this bill as well. I hope this can create a future where Utah knows what can be beneficial and what can be negative for its water. I am wondering if there is anything that will be done after this bill is passed and if that's going to be limiting how many data centers can be created in Utah, or if they are limited by the amount of water they can use. I've lived in Utah since I was two years old and seeing the increasingly negative affects drought has on our state has me worrying about data centers being welcomed here. I urge you to oppose the building of ANY data centers in Utah and I believe it would have a very negative affect on our climate, people, and future generations.
I do hope that even though this specifically focuses on water reports and not limiting water that data centers can use. That you and other representitives of Utah will vote against any data centers being built here and limit their water usage. I understand data centers may be helpful for our economy and for all the big companies and AI usage that has grown increasingly in the last years. In the long run I believe it will have a very detrimental affect on everyone. Our clean water is for drinking, not data.
