Through the last couple of months, the presidential vs. vice-presidential speeches have been intense. My viewpoint of the debate enlightened me to have a different perspective on VP Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. VP Harris shows strong leadership while Donald Trump falters. Knowledge and exchanges throughout the debates made me worry about how much these topics would impact me and the people I care about if one party was elected to power. Kamala Harris was very confident in everything she said. She started the debate by stating how “The people of America are fighting for Freedom.” Everything that Donald Trump stated goes against the people of America.

A large number of topics spoken during the debate made me open my eyes to who would be a better candidate for our country. Topics that caught my attention during the debate were Immigration and the Right to Abortion. These issues matter to me because I’m a young Black woman with immigrant parents who came to the U.S. for a better life. A young woman who could be stripped of my rights to act upon my own body. When immigration was brought up, Donald Trump said, "Our country is being lost; we're a failing nation.” He was referring to people crossing into the country, continually calling them “Aliens.” Donald Trump believes that they’re destroying the country, proclaiming that he is only fighting for rich upper-class people. Along with him supporting abortions after 9 months, including execution after birth. However, Kamala Harris is fighting for average-class Americans, creating a stronger policy for all people. Mrs. Harris stands for individual freedoms and liberties. As well as fighting to structure federal protections for a woman's right to choose. During Tim Walz vs. JD Vance's vice-presidential debate, I was drawn to how effective both of their positions were. JD Vance aligned himself with Donald Trump's statements, while Tim Walz focused more on pressing issues that would benefit all people. JD Vance continued what Donald Trump was saying about immigrants destroying the country, claiming immigrants should be kicked out then sent back to their countries, and homes should be built for American citizens who deserve them. Making the same assertion as Donald Trump, making the upper class stronger and legalizing abortions.

In the debate, Tim Walz seemed just as confident in making a change as VP Kamala Harris did. Walz believes that leadership is what America needs, stating that "Donald Trump can't give that.” Important issues like economic growth and access to healthcare were highlighted by Tim Walz. He also highlighted the importance of unity in solving the problems affecting the country. Arguing for a beneficial approach to immigration. He focused on useful concepts that would help Americans raise their standard of living. As a result, the vice-presidential vs. presidential debates showed the candidates' significant differences, which have influenced how I view their objectives and capacities for leadership. America needs leadership, and Kamala Harris embodies it. Trump has proven that he is unfit to serve as president.
