In the recent Presidential and Vice Presidential debates, all candidates involved brought up very important political issues which greatly impact the citizens of the U.S. and their way of living. During the debate some very important topics were brought up which resonated with me and are important to me. Those topics are immigration, the economy, and abortion rights. These 3 topics are important to me because they affect my future and way of living. While watching the debate all candidates but more specifically VP Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have made both bold and important claims concerning these political issues. These claims need to be fact-checked because in situations like this when making claims involving the country’s citizens, what you say should be true. You are going to be running the country after all.

Both the Democratic and Republican parties have differing views on abortion rights. While the Democratic side is more lenient towards abortion, the Republican party is advocating for illegal abortion. VP Kamala Harris made the point that there are some women who need to travel to legally get an abortion, contrary to Trump accusing Democrats of aborting babies after birth, which is a crazy claim. On the discussion of Immigration and economic policies, Trump and JD Vance claim that immigrants will take over jobs if they cross the border. However, both parties have strict border restrictions, Project 2025 seems to aim for the mass deportation of immigrants.

Overall, all these topics that I mentioned are important to me and my life. Abortion rights can affect the choices and rights of my own body. The talk of immigration is still up in the air and could affect future generations. The state of the economy is very important in terms of how things are managed as well as the prices for goods foods, etc. Each has its own very important effects whether its effects are targeted towards me or other people, at the end of the day it affects how our country works. The country that I live in and a country that I hope for my family to be able to live in peacefully.
