The focus of this discussion is the Vice presidential candidate debate between Time waltz and JD Vance on October 1st, 2024. A battle between Republicans (JD Vance) and Democrats (Tim Waltz). Each party discussed the same topics and had their own informative highlights within those topics which we are going to be discussing in this paragraph. These topics consist of Economic Policies, Social Issues, Abortion policies, Gunfire assaults and Foreign Policies. These debates focused on the candidates visions, expectations, and their main goal going into the new year. The issues that mattered to me the most were the topic of Gunfire assaults and Economic policies because as I progress in life these are the people who I’m entrusting my saftey in therefore if these issues were not resolved, that could ultimately put me and my peers around me life in jeopardy.
Starting off, I feel as if the main highlights JD Vance (republican party) stated were his vision regarding gun legislation and finding out ways to prevent firearms from reaching or being involved in school. JD Vance vision basically summated the strengthening school doors and windows, stronger security measures and mental health support to all students and staff. I feel as if this is a key highlight because there has been an increase in school shootings from 2021 and ultimately each day 12 children die from gun violence in America and 32 adults get either injured or killed by gun violence in America and in 20024 alone there have been 178 incidents of school shootings in America.
Moving forward, the key highlights Tim Waltz (democratic party) stated was his vision and commitment towards Abortion laws, and laws against immigration. The reason I find these two subjects as highlights/key components because regarding abortion laws, whilst the republican party are trying to ban abortion, Tim Waltz and the democrats are supporting abortion stating by supporting personal encounter like sexual assault, rapingand unconsensually sex. He also stated how abortion is a fundamental right and allows people to exercise these rights without restrictions at all stages of pregnancy. He also discussed the laws towards immigration saying they should be more lenient and being able to protect undocumented immigrants and promoting sanctuary laws.
