Vertical Farming over the years has grown drastically in popularity due to its sustainability and yielding of high quality produce, but critics worry about the nutritional value of the food, as well as, the high levels of energy consumption that comes with running a vertical farm. I believe that vertical farming could revolutionize agriculture completely. With this being said, Sources C, B, and E all deeply explaining how vertical farming has evolutionalized agriculture, allowed farmers to avoid pesticides and fertilizer, which we have little to no information on its affects on our health, and helps save important materials such as water
.
In source E, Benke speaks to how reusable and sustainable vertical farming is, due to many factors, but one primarily is the recycling of water. “Using recycled water and nutrients in a closed indoor, climate-controlled environment adds to food security and can reduce or even completely eliminate the need for pesticides or herbicides.” (Source E) Vertical farming reuses water that plants don’t use, to save water storages and helps from diseased water, which can be caused by animal pathogens which may infect food and cause E Coli outbreaks. Although vertical farms being inside allows for the plants to be protected from natural weather or animal related problems, many customers are concerned about the plants not being grown with soil, and without natural pollinators such as bees or the wind. Overall this source shows how vertical farming produces clean, green, and gourmet food, while conserving essential materials at the same time.
In Source B, Ling and Atland speak to how vertical farming allows crops to not be forced into specific season or geographical regions, so they can be grown anywhere anytime. “Vertical farming allows growers to grow regional and seasonal crops indoors year-round.” (Source B) The importance of this is that countries can provide for themselves the crops/plants that would generally have to be imported from elsewhere. An example may be coconuts, which need a very specific region to be grown in, or olives or a variety of berries. Because vertical farming eliminates the necessity for geographical regions and seasons, countries can depend on themselves for all sources of food, which in turn greatly helps the economy for all countries involved.
In Source C, Kazai shown in his table/graph, how different factors are changed across different farming methods, such as open fields, greenhouse soil culture, greenhouse hydroponics, and vertical farms. Vertical farms had an extremely high yield rate, had a very high controllability of the air zone and root zone, but had lows in both the naturality of the air and root zones. Open fields have a low yield rate meaning it had a high vulnerability to the yield and quality, had a high natural stability of root zones, but had a very low natural stability of the aerial zone. Overall, this source shows how vertical farms have a much more controlled yet artificial environment where open fields are very naturally controlled, yet yields smaller amounts.
Overall, these three sources show us the economic, sustainability, and just ultimately the advantages of vertical farming. Vertical farming is the future, and as it grows, it will show us the side effects of how much easier it is to grow and produce.

Your text provides a good overview of the benefits and concerns surrounding vertical farming. One way to enhance your writing is by incorporating subordinate clauses to vary your sentence structure and add complexity to your ideas.
For example, you wrote: “Vertical farming over the years has grown drastically in popularity due to its sustainability and yielding of high-quality produce, but critics worry about the nutritional value of the food, as well as the high levels of energy consumption that comes with running a vertical farm.” In this sentence, you used a subordinate clause (“as well as the high levels of energy consumption that comes with running a vertical farm”) to provide additional information about the concerns of critics. This helps to add depth to your writing and elaborate on the main idea.
To further improve your writing, consider incorporating more subordinate clauses throughout your text. For instance, when discussing the advantages of vertical farming, you could say: “Vertical farming, which is a sustainable agricultural practice, has the potential to revolutionize the way we produce food.” This sentence structure adds complexity and sophistication to your writing.
As your awareness of the use of complex sentences and subordinate clauses grows, you will start to recognize why some writing sounds better than others. When we look at an accomplished author’s writing, we begin to understand why using the subordinate clause is so effective. As you begin to notice these things when you read, you can replicate what great authors do when you write.
I encourage you to edit lines, sentences, and paragraphs in your text. If you are the owner of the document, you can double-click on any sentence or paragraph, edit and update.
