I was interested in researching this because my uncle and my grandpa have type 2 diabetes and it can be genetic but also has a lot to do with how you eat, exercise, etc. From these two sources, I learned that exercising can significantly reduce and delay the development of type 2 diabetes. Another crucial factor is your diet, according to the Mayo Clinic, eating healthy animal and plant-based foods is very important for reducing risk. Also, I found it interesting that they said fad diets like Keto and more have no evidence of reducing risk and although they make you lose weight it is more important to have a balanced diet. According to the National Library of Medicine, genetics also play a large role in the development of type two diabetes especially as you grow older; obesity and physical inactivity can also speed up the development.
