The question, “Who does better? Private school students or public school students?” is very intriguing to me because as a private school student, who pays more for a quality education, I wonder if it really makes a difference. Public school students tend to have larger student bodies, bigger institutions, and more funds; however, does this play a positive or negative role in their overall academic education? I already know that their campuses are larger and sometimes nicer, but I still have questions about the personalized nature of their education. Here, at a private school, we have smaller campuses and class sizes. This allows teachers to work with you and help you along the way. In a larger school, it would be more difficult to provide a personalized education and help to thousands of students.

Private students tend to do better academically than public school students. According to St. Thomas High School, “Research has shown that private school students are often primed for success in their futures – evidenced by higher test scores, better graduation rates, college attendance and successful college graduation.” According to U.S. News, “Research has consistently shown that private school students tend to perform better on standardized tests. The National Assessment of Educational Progress, which is often referred to as “the nation’s report card,” assesses both public and private school students in subjects such as math, reading, science and writing.” Due to the small nature of class sizes and the ability to provide students with the necessary support, private school students tend to have higher standardized test scores, higher graduation rates, and are more likely to attend college. Their academic drive and commitment provides them with the necessary tools to succeed in both college and in life afterwards.
