Will the snow dropped this winter be as good as before
According to Open Snow, the NOAA is expecting us to reach La Nína conditions by the time Winters comes around to Utah. They believe there is more than an 80% chance of this happening. It is projected to be a weaker La Nína event, but on average in Utah during La Nína seasons we have gotten 629” of snow. This is much less than last year's larger total of around 900”. So no, we are not expected to reach the snowfall levels of last year, but yes we are still expected to get quite a bit of snow.
According to The Park Record, climate experts are skeptical that we will be experiencing snowfall levels close to the record-breaking season last year. Again a weak La Nína season is projected to happen. This means that the jet streams get to a point where they are a little bit wavy. This takes all the storms to move into the Pacific Northwest, which leaves our desert area dry. This does not mean we won't have any snow, it merely means our snowfall depends more on the atmospheric rivers to bring us a great ski season.
