Being an Eagles fan comes with experiencing many emotions, such as stress, excitement, disappointment, and hope. Thankfully, I didn't feel any of the negative emotions last night.
My story with this Superbowl starts in April 2024. I was scrolling through Twitter (not X) and stumbled on a video of Jalen Hurts. You may be thinking, what's special about a video of Jalen Hurts? It's the off-season. However, there was one key thing about this video: Jalen was smiling.
As a fan, I know my quarterback. After our devasting loss in Super Bowl LVII, it seemed grim for the Eagles. We ended our 23-24 season terribly, and Jalen seemed unhappy, never smiling. So, coming across this video sparked something new in me. Naturally, I sent this to my best friend, and we both agreed that we were going to the Super Bowl this season. We kept spreading this message to others; many told us to be serious. That it was unlikely we were going to make it. As more clips and interviews came out of Jalen and the team being cheerful, something unseen for us, we knew there was something special.
Then came the start of the season. We started pretty rocky, with a 2-2 record. Many people doubted that we had it in us and said it was going to be another disappointing season. Suddenly, like it was grass growing in a desert, it started. Hurts, Barkley, Slay, Smith, and Brown all came out to show up for us. Week by week, we kept succeeding and exceeding all expectations. And let me emphasize SAQUON BARKLEY. Every time he was on the field, it was bonkers. The hype just kept building, and even with a few rough patches, we came out on top.
After decimating the Commanders in the NFC Championship ( sorry, Jayden Daniels), it only seemed up from here. However, this sentiment wasn't held by many. Experts, commentators, and the chronically online all believed we were going to lose in a close game to the Chiefs. Believing that the Cheifs will be the first team to 3-peat. We saw just how wrong the haters were. The Eagles cooked the Chiefs. With Coop Dejean getting a birthday pick-six, Our D-Line being complete monsters, and Jake Elliot finally showing out, we were unstoppable. The one thing the Chiefs did well was containing Barkley, but besides that?
For me, this Super Bowl represents hope. Hope that the city, players, and I never lost. This Super Bowl contains many firsts for some and many finales for others. I continued to believe in my team and knew we were going to make it. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/eagles-deny-chiefs-super-bowl-033523201.html
