As a casual Kendrick Lamar fan I felt like his performance was interesting and entertaining. I liked his visuals like the dancers and himself wearing the colors of the American flag, the words seen from lights in the crowd, and the video game stage layout and ext. Although I still dont get all the visuals and hidden meanings heres all that I've gathered after getting to watch Lamar's halftime performance twice. I noticed that he included the actor Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam, who is a American symbol. In the halftime show he challenges the performance multiple times often reffering that Kendrick isn't Playing the game just right and saying that his song is "too loud, too ghetto". I also noticed that when all the dancers come out of the they are all together but then they are all seperated by color, and in the end there a inner circle of dancers who are wearing white after all the blue and red colors are seen lying dead. The night of and the day after I continuously heard people say it wasn't a "good" performance and that they expected bigger. But I honestly think that it wasn't Kendrick himself but his style of rap and his messege behimd his performance it just wasn't for entertainment but was also almost political. I think that as someone who often puts great meaning in his music that would also be the case in his performance. And I would say that his performance was actually lively. I belive that people wanted a broader performance from the wrong artist. But afterall this is just my take, i still enjoyed the performance and the game. GO BIRDS!
