Microplastics In our Bodies

This article summarizes a couple of studies that are exploring the effects of microplastics in humans and in other animals. The first study was in mice and showed that microplastics were found in the mouse’s brains. This led to signs of cognitive decline similar to dementia. While the second part of the research is still happening. They believe that some plastics will affect the endocrine system and during pregnancy this could lead to birth defects. The other parts of this article talk about what microplastics are and then how we can reduce the amount of microplastics that we are in contact with.
