This article discusses the scope of the drying up of the Great Salt Lake. It addresses the dying off of brine shrimp and what that could do to the food web, along with changing patterns of migratotry birds due to higher water salinity and less water. The exposed lakebed can release a variety of toxins, including arsenic dust, into the air. The drying can be eased by lessening the use of agricultural water North of the lake and getting increased public awareness.
