Where's my thinking (microplastics)

This article summarizes a couple of studies that are exploring the effects of microplastics in humans and in other animals. The first study was in mice and showed that microplastics were found in the mouse’s brains. This led to signs of cognitive decline similar to dementia. While the second part of the research is still happening. They believe that some plastics will affect the endocrine system and during pregnancy this could lead to birth defects. The other parts of this article talk about what microplastics are and then how we can reduce the amount of microplastics that we are in contact with.

Overall, I think that this is a problem worth talking about and worth discussing. While there is not a ton of evidence currently about how this could affect this, that is most likely becuase this is a relatively new issue that we are still studying. From what we have found it appears that microplastics cou dhave severe problems with out bodies. They can screw up our hormones which could lead to defects in our development and aso cause forms of cancer early. While we can't fully get rid of all the plastics we use and consume there are still ways to reduce the amount that ends up in our bodies. One way is through plastics water bottles. We can star usiing more metal water bottles, not only is this sustainable but also signifcantly reduces the amount of microplastics that get into our bodies.
