My research question is:
How does the education system in the U.S. differ from other countries?
How can we improve our education?
Why I’m interested in it:
I never agreed with the idea that kids are meant to be cooped up at a desk for 8 hours in school and then 3 more at home.
The way our education system is structured may be great for preparing children to work in factories but it does not prepare them for the real world or let them be kids.
Children should be able to move and play outside for a lot longer than they are and it is unrealistic to bring school work home if we are always told to keep work at work and home at home as adults.
I am curious to know if other countries have different systems and how they compare to America in terms of retention and learning.
List of stakeholders:
Me, my peers, future and past generations of children, teachers, parents, etc.
Update:
After reading and annotating my first article I have mostly verrified that there is a proble. The U.S. has one of the worst educations systems and test scores. Although this will only be a small part of my final essay it is important in establishing the ourpose of my research. I am excited to find more articles about the education systems of other countries. Once I do that I can compare with data and figure out what works and what doesn't.
