This article is from research done in 2021 but still applies to the topic today. It explains the research done on the disparities between immigrant households and non-immigrant households in the United States. The article explains how immigrant households were also 1.88 times more likely to suffer from food insecurity than U.S.-born households. Furthermore, many of these households are forced to make a choice between food, housing, healthcare, insurance, and other basic needs to be able to afford one or the other. Finally, the article dives into how the fear of deportation is a safety issue and is causing a larger stigma for families around asking for help when they need it most.
