The Great Salt Lake’s water level reached a new low in 2022. A team of researchers was created in 2023 to help save the lake. In their time, they have helped raise the water level and buy leases from farmers for water. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been put into saving the lake. The team agrees that the cost of saving the lake will be less than the cost of maintaining the area around it if it begins to get worse.
