This article was about the forgotten purpose of civics eduation in public schools. It details issues in the cirriculum that are stopping students from learning what it truly means to be an American. Civics education has been overlooked by the education system in recent years, as education in english, math, and science become more favorable. We are just now starting to realize that reading from a book does no good for this type of education. Students will be more engaged in the topic is to pretend like they are already voters. Community service can also play a role, and the article cites that students who have participated in community service are more likely to vote. In the midst of a crisis, there is still hop for civics eduation in the United States.
