It is very prominent in today's world and directly affects my family and our country as a whole.

So far from what I have read and heard in the news new cuts of federal employees and agencies won't get Trump nearly how close he wants to be in reducing government spending to keep his tax cuts in place. It will also have implications on the economy since although many of these employees who are being (and will be cut) will move to private sector jobs, many of them won't and will retire early or won't be able to find other jobs that will increase unemployment and have negative implications on the countries economy. Also, the dismantling of the foreign service and embassies will lead to the US becoming separated from global trade and discourse.

This NPR article goes over the logistics of potential federal workforce cuts and how they could negatively affect the American public. It also talks about how cutting federal agencies and employees will only get Trump a fraction of the way to cutting trillions in government spending.

The Utah government is trying to get farmers North of the Great Salt Lake to use less water to help refill the lake. Farmers are not on board with the idea, though they want to help with the lake. Development in the areas around farmland is taking up a lot of water, and farmers are cutting their water supply to help development, so they do not think they have enough water for their land and to spare for the lake. The state is not worried about this because they are focusing on lager water rights holders.

This article talks about how these cuts will lead to a lower quality of life in the US and how, although it will cut the federal deficit now, in the future when the country isn't doing as well economically because of the smaller federal workforce government spending will increase leading to level out the national debt.

I read this article because it would be a good idea to get a view from a more right-leaning media source. Overall, this article provided amazing insight into what is going on. Trump is starting to ease up and backpedal on what has been done because of the backlash he is facing. Plus, unemployment went up a little bit in last month's report (although the real effects won't be seen until next month’s report). It also showed that DOGE is scrambling to reinstate some agencies and people because of said backlash and potential future implications.

This article reiterates the point that Trump's actions regarding the federal workforce will have an impact on the economy. And we are currently seeing that at the moment.

This article gave me some good insight into how federal cuts are already having an impact on our country. Weather balloon launches have been halted due to staffing issues at the NOAA and more cuts to this agency are still to come.

In this article, I learned how the mix of federal cuts and freezing of money to states is leading and will lead to uncertainty for local and state leaders. With these cuts, state and local officials will be less likely to continue to build infrastructure which in turn leads to a lower quality of life in the US. In this article, specifically, they talk about the freezing of funding for flood relief and electric car charging stations.
