I am trans and I want to know how this will affect my healthcare and my life moving forward
I have learned that the LGBTQ+ community is at major risk. A lot of married queer people and trans people are at the most risk. Trump has put a ban on getting gender affirming surgery before the age of 18, which makes no sense. He has also sent the same-sex marriage court case back to the Supreme Court for review. Many queer communities in blue states are creating foundations to provide as much care as possible to trans people without getting shut down. The ACLU is bringing up multiple court cases against the Trump administration because the laws they are passing are unfair and unconstitutional. They are fighting mainly for queer marriage and trans healthcare right now.
The author acknowledges that the Trump administration is targeting people in the LGBTQ+ community and placing bans on their freedoms.
In discussions of gender affirming healthcare, one controversial issue has been that it goes against religious beliefs. On the one hand, many people need that healthcare because it can positively affect their mental health and productivity in life. On the other hand, many conservatives and people with strong religious beliefs oppose the idea of someone switching genders. Others even believe it is dangerous for others. My own view is that it is necessary for everyone to get the healthcare they need in order to be successful in life no matter what kind of care it is.
The article is informing the public about all of the executive orders that President Biden submitted but are now taken out of play because he is not in office anymore. More executive orders are going out from President Trump that target the LGBTQ community. While EOs cannot override laws, they can cause major roadblocks for LGBTQ members. President Trump is mainly targeting transgender people and gender identity laws, stating that there is only “two sexes” and that “people cannot change their sex, gender is different from sex.”
The article shows where transgender bans are in the United States. It also details what laws have been passed in which states regarding hormone therapy and gender affirming surgery.
The article describes how the Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges is threatened to be overturned. Michigan is the main state that is bringing this case back to the SC to reinstate that same-sex marriage is illegal. The State legislature of Michigan is bringing this to attention due to his religious views.
The article is about how LGBTQ lives are at risk, mainly around the world. It focuses on refugees and how the UNHCR fights for their rights. It talks about many laws and bans against LGBTQ people in certain countries and how their mental health is at risk. Many people in this community face physical and mental violence. This article helps to point out how to help these refugees and what we can do to make sure that they are able to get the help they need.
2025 Charlie L : This is really good to know because when I turn 18 I might still be able to get the care I need.
