Paragraph 2 changes
Sonia starts the speech by asking a question “who am I” yet she doesn't answer the question immediately, instead she shares some of her experiences that helped to lead her to the answer. This strengthens her argument by showing her complex background, which has made this question so difficult for her to answerthat forms a multifaceted view of sonias identity which makes this question more complex than it would otherwise seem. At the end of going through several personal anecdotes, she states that “none of these experiences make her more or less latina” but it is the way it is “the way I love and live my life” she shows that the experiences of her life help her live with the identity of a latina but dont define who she is.

Paragraph 3 changes
Another way she shows the students at berkeley what identity is, is by defining why she is capable of lecturing on this subject. She states that she has been “very well educated” which shows that she has the knowledge to speak extensively on the subject. Also her position at the time “being a court of appeals judge” shows her credibility. Lastly her background and upbringing give her the personal experience that many are looking for in people who tech teach on subjects.
