When watching this video, you will see a series of scenes from the book Long Divison by Kiese Laymon acted out. We specifically choose the chapter “Baize” which is pages 10-35 in the second book. The themes we discussed in this book are Self- Development, Communication, Relationships, And Racism. A quote that stood out to us in this book was “Oh,” She said. “Unfold your arms. You ain’t gonna cover them with fat breasts. What I’m saying is that your mind, your mouth, and your heart are finally working right. You are finally sprouting out.”” You make me feel funny saying I got ‘breasts’, Mama Lara.”

“All I’m saying is that you are ready to move,” she said and looked me right in my eyes. “Yeah, you ready in mind, body, and soul.” pages 10-15 Reading this quote you can get a sense of one of the key themes which is self development and very prominent in this book.

The acting is very spot on and the script at the beginning made it interesting. I really like the sense of humor in the video and including other people to make it fun to watch. At the end, I really liked the little dancing with the music to end off the video.

I liked how their group separated their video into multiple sections. This made it easier for the viewer to understand. I also like how they implemented acting and scenes in their video as well as information. I wonder, how can we work on leveling audio? I also think that their captions were very helpful.

I really liked the part where Iman also started rapping. I think this was a very creative project and that is why the video and the part where she raps in my favorite part of their project. The part where they danced was also nice. Why did they start dancing? What was the meaning of this?
